About Geoff Harvey

After several years as a franchisee with a major UK driving school (and their first in the South West of England to achieve the new highest ‘A’ grade qualification), I am well qualified to provide my pupils with a high standard of professional tuition available. This together with the personal touch generally associated with a smaller independent school, allows me the ability to offer my pupils the very best of both worlds.

As a member of the Driving Instructors Association, I work to the Industry Codes of Practice. My teaching style is calm, friendly, and relaxed and I believe in coaxing the best from my pupils and not allowing learning to become a chore or hard work. We learn best when we enjoy it!

Lessons durations are normally one and a half hours. I will do one-hour lessons if it is to cover a specific topic.

When it comes to booking your Driving Test, you can either book it yourself, or I can book it for you at no extra cost.

Figures relating to my test results

  • The majority of my pupils pass first time (74%).
  • My overall pass rate has never fallen as low as the national average (47%).
  • My 'perfect' pass rate (zero errors) is five times higher than the national average.

A test candidate is allowed 15 minor faults during their driving test and will still pass.
The following are the figures to date for my successful pupils.

  • 0 or 1 fault: 13%
  • 2 or fewer faults: 30%
  • 3 or fewer faults: 53%
  • 4 or fewer faults: 68%
  • 5 or fewer faults: 78%
  • Nobody has ever scored 15 faults!

(I hope the above figures will suggest something to you about my teaching standards).

My (very) potted history...

As a young man, I was always keen on cars and driving and passed my test shortly after my 17th birthday. I voluntarily attended various advanced driving courses and at the age of 19 passed my test to qualify and join the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

After some years in the industry, in 1991 I decided to train and qualified as a driving instructor, working in Warminster and Salisbury for a couple of years. Although I then went back into the industry, I continued to teach friends children at the weekends, even though this was unpaid (as my instructor's license was no longer valid), just for the enjoyment I get from teaching.

It is not surprising, therefore, that following redundancy, I decided to re-train and return to a job which gives me great satisfaction – driving instruction. Just as the first time, I passed all three qualifying examinations on the first attempt.

I have over the years been a member of various Road Safety Committees and Car Clubs. In the last 25 years, I have held licenses to drive all lorries and buses on our roads (although my ‘bendy’ bus was only a provisional and I never actually drove one!)
